Rick graduated from Coronado High School in 1973.  After high school, he graduated from Colorado College with his teaching degree.  In May, 1981 Rick began his accounting career at Reynolds, Farmer, & Bohall, Inc., a local accounting office here in Colorado Springs.  On January 1, 1986, he began his own accounting office, currently named R.S. Powell, Inc. 

Rick received his license as a certified public accountant on April 26, 1983.  He has been a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants since September 30, 1983 and of the Colorado Society of Certified Public Accountants since August 5, 1983.
